Mistra Urban Futures one of 15 finalists for prestigious award

Mistra Urban Futures is one of 15 finalists for the European Foundations Award for Responsible Research & Innovation, EFARRI. More than 200 research groups and organisations applied for the award in 2015, followed by a thorough selection procedure. The award ceremony takes place in Brussels 21 November, when three of the 15 finalists will receive the award and a prize of € 20,000.

The European Foundations Award for Responsible Research & Innovation (EFARRI) aims to identify research groups that have successfully incorporated methods to align research with the needs of society and contributed towards the development of a smart, inclusive and sustainable society.

Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) is a European approach that includes implications and societal expectations regarding research and innovation. The idea is research and innovation in a societal context. It requires the inclusion of diverse stakeholders, and anticipates and reflects on multiple values, communicates in an open and transparent way, and responds or adapts based on feedback that is received in order to accommodate the wider range of stakeholders and their viewpoints that exist today and might arise in the future.

The award is a joint initiative of the King Baudouin Foundation (Belgium), “la Caixa” Foundation (Spain), Fondazione Cariplo (Italy), the Lundbeck Foundation (Denmark), the Robert Bosch Stiftung (Germany) and the European Foundation Centre Research Forum.
